I'm right now on a 1st gen. iPhone (8GB) running on iOS 3.1.3 (well, it was still called iPhone OS :p)

tomorrow I'll be getting a new iPhone 4 (32GB), that will be running on iOS 4.1
I already downloaded the IPSW of 4.3.3 and redsn0w 0.9.6rc16
because as soon as I get it I want to update it to 4.3.3 and then I want to unlock it and jailbreak it.

now, can I update it normally from 4.1 to 4.3.3 before even jb'ing it? and is it straight forward when using redsn0w? or do I need to watch out for something?
I know NOTHING about basebands! I'm afraid I might brick it...

please, I would appreciate any help,
Thank you!

switching from a
8GB iPhone running 3.1.3
to a
32GB iPhone 4 running 4.3.3

(and in just 3 months will be on iOS 5).... how drastic will THAT be?!

you can jailbreak no probs with redsnow
cant unlock iphone 4 tho.

only baseband that was unlockable was 4.0 and 4.0.1

how come? no way...
I'm sure that iPhone 4's can be unlocked later than 4.0.1

I'm no unlocking expert, but from what I understand, 4.1 and beyond probably upgrade the baseband. Only early iPhone 4's that shipped with 4.0.1 or earlier have a baseband that is currently unlock-able.

so, if the iPhone that I get is already on 4.1?? will I be screwed???
please, PLEASE, tell me no...

[EDIT] and if redsn0w doesn't work, do you think I can do something with PwnageTool??

Pwnage Tool is for advanced jailbreakers only, use redsn0w rc17 and it will work ;)

you're talking about jailbreaking, I know that it can be JB'ed... but what I want is to unlock it to use it here in Lebanon...

anyway, after THREE long, tiring hours of research and reading... I finally came to the conclusion that I'm one of the late people to get on the Gevey train...

so, I found out that Gevey Turbo SIM is my one and ONLY solution to unlock my iPhone 4.

should I jailbreak before or after I do Gevey's process? should I do that process everytime I turn off/reset my iPhone? what about when I lose service?

will I lose any functionality or call quality??
