Hello,
I have a MacBook Retina A1534 and its OS version is OS X El Capitan 10.11.6. When I want to install Microsoft Office or Adobe products like Photoshop, then it tells me that, I must upgrade my OS to 10.12. How can I download the update and install it manually?

Thank you.

Did you try the methods Apple recommends?

Via System Preferences (always to the most recent macOS version):
https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201541

Or, for installing an older macOS:
https://support.apple.com/de-de/HT211683
(Link from Germany but it should adapt to your language)

Or you can create a bootable installer:
https://support.apple.com/de-de/HT201372
Thank you so much.
I did it via System Preferences and it just downloaded something about 1.X GB and rebooted system and installed it, but my OS version doesn't change and new update isn't available.
About the bootable installer, as you see, this model doesn't have any USB port!!!

It has one USB-C port. If you don’t have a USB-C (flash) drive to create a bootable installer, there are adapters to plug USB-A drives into USB-C ports. Make sure the battery is fully charged before you use the bootable installer.

I downloaded http://updates-http.cdn-apple.com/2...5f4-0015-4c41-9f44-39d3d2aca067/InstallOS.dmg and installed it and according to the https://www.macobserver.com/cool-stuff-found/macos-sierra-installer-download/ I searched "macOS Sierra" and clicked on "Open" button and my OS upgraded.
My MacBook Retina hardware specifications are Intel core m3 1.1 GHz and 8 GB 1867 MHz LPDDR3. Any newer upgrade?

I must not upgrade to the macOS High Sierra 10.13 first?
No; you can upgrade straight to Big Sur if you want to.

The Big Sur is not slow for my MacBook?
I have a 2015 12" MacBook and found Big Sur "tolerably" fast. However, I went back to Mojave as I use some 32-bit applications I don't want to give up.

How can I download the DMG file?
Downloading from the App Store will put the Install macOS Big Sur application into your Applications folder. No need to download a DMG first.

Thank you, but how can I have a DMG file?

What I'd do: after downloading from the App Store, create a disk image in Disk Utility that is large enough to hold the Install macOS Big Sur application. Then, copy it to the disk image. Done. :)
