I just updated my iPad and some apps and a few other things were deleted. My email account settings disappeared as well. How to update your iPad without deleting anything?

What did you update? OS or apps? And did you do it via plugging it into a computer or over the air?

Did you restore iOS software of your iPad with iTunes on your Mac/PC, and then restore from iCloud?

If so, take a look at this:
'Previous purchases may not be restored if they are no longer in the iTunes Store, App Store, or iBookstore.'
