How to upgrade iPad Air from an old AT&T data plan?

I have been paying for yrs on my old ipad plan for my granddaughter, unlimited data for $29.95. My ipad air is a verizon pad. Can I switch it over even though it's a verizon pad? If I can how do I do it? Thanks
