I was in need of a phone a while ago, and my friend gave me his old iphone to use.

It was unlocked and jailbroken by him and i am currently not in contact with him for now. So I have to learn about the phone myself.

Anyways. It's current version is 4.1 (8B117) with a baseband of 6.15.00
It works fine with this build but some of the apps that i want to download require version 4.3 or higher. So, Now I want to know how I can upgrade to ios 6, because i tried going to itunes and clicking update but after a long black screen, it just gives me error 21, 1602, and 3194. ( these are different times i've done it, and yes i've tried googling these problems, and they don't work, i've tried many times to update but I simply cant. )

Is there a way for me to get past this problem? Or am i stuck on 4.1 forever?

It could be the jailbreak. Put it in DFU mode and have itunes restore it. That will remove your jailbreak, but install the latest iOS that unit supports.
