How to use 5GHz with MacBook Pro?

I just bought a dual band router (Linksys E3200)
I have a Late 2011 MBP.
How do I know whether my MBP is using the 2.4 ghz or the 5 ghz band?
And, how do I make my make use the 5 ghz band?

If you press and hold the option key while clicking the WiFi status icon, it will show you number of connection statistics, including whether its a 5GHz network. As how how to use it... well, you just set it up on the router and the MBP will connect to it.

Option-click the Wi-Fi icon in your menubar. Your frequency is listed next to your channel.
