Connecting a Bluetooth keyboard to an iPad of course isn't a problem. But I have been unable to connect a BT mouse or BT Trackpad to my iPad. Is there a way to do this? Hoping this would be available with iOS8.

On my Samsung Android tablet, it connects just fine with my Apple BT keyboard AND Apple BT Magic Trackpad. VERY nice to have especially when writing a document or using a spreadsheet app on the tablet. The trackpad is pretty slick too since it shows your number of fingers on the display that are touching the TrackPad.

Thanks!

For several things, a mouse would be great for the iPads; however, they are currently unable to connect to a mouse/trackpad of any kind. I imagine it will be something that is developed for the "iPad pro" and could possibly make its way down to other iPads also, but we will have to wait and see. Until then it's your finger or a stylus for iPads.
