Is there a way to use my iMac at home, on my home internet in the UK, as a proxy (or better, VPN), so that i can connect my macbook to it when abroad, so i can access 'uk only' websites, like BBCiPlayer etc.

Thanks

Setting your iMac up as a web proxy is probably not the best idea. You could use SSH to do this, but OS X Server actually offers VPN functionality.
