How to use video chat in macbook

hi all,

I have friends and family using pc and have msn and yahoo. I want to video chat with them from my macbook 10.4............but how. Which app do i need to download. if their webcam is not working can the see me if my webcam is on. Also in gmail, i see video chat but how to use it, do both parties need the webcam to be functinal for the video chat to work.

kindly give me a solution
