Hello all, I got my mac back in august of 07 and I think mine has the LED backlight as opposed to the old CCFL backlights, I remember reading that they started making the MBP's with LED backlighting on June 5th of 07 but i want to make sure i didn't get an older model sitting in the inventory...any help is greatly appreciated.

Just by looking at it, is the bezel where it says "macbook pro" equal in thickness to the top part of bezel (where the iSight is)? Or is it thin and disproportionate from the top where the isight is.

If it is equal in proportion, top and bottom, it is LED.
If it isnt, and "macbook pro" is confined to a small strip of metal then it is CCFL.

Or go to Displays in preferences > Color > Color LCD > Open Profile > #13 and tell us the display #. Should be something like 9C**

Know what models employ the technology...

15" 2.2 MBP and higher are all LED....as well as the currently option on the NEWEST 17" hires MBP.

Anything else CCFL

Dude... in all seriousness, that is just downright gonna confuse the guy...

lol sorry.

Go to about this mac and see if its 2.2-2.4 for 15"...if it is its LED.

e12a - well i'm not quite sure what you mean about the bezel, i guess i'd have to see a picture of it to know exactly what you mean, but my display model is 9C67 so it looks like it's an LG...that and i should've specified that mine is a 2.2 Ghz 15" model.

also i heard you can use the serial number to verify this, I'm not sure if this is true or not but the first few numbers/letters are W87340

on a side note didn't they make 2.2Ghz MBP's prior to switching to LED's?

Thanks again guys for all your help!
