How to view workgroups

I'm a Mac newbie and the proud owner of a Mac Mini (OS10.4.10) with a USB wireless network.

My question is: how can I see workgroups so as to share files please? There used to be a black circular icon in the top LH of Finder but I inadvertently dragged it to the desktop and now I can't see my workgroups

Is there any kind person out there who can help?

Open Finder Preferences > Sidebar and check the 'Network' box
