I have a G4 800 iBook that has died. Yep ... the logic board! It is dearer to repair than buy a new one and so I’d like to either canibalise it and sell the parts or sell it “as is” on eBay. The only problem is that there is personal data on the HD. How can I wipe it when the machine doesn’t work?

You have to remove the drive from the machine, put it temporarily in a USB or Firewire case, and reformat it with another machine. In Disk Utility, choose the Security option "Zero out data", or the 7-pass option if you are exceptionally worried.
