How to work around the 1.5 month delay on new MBP?

So I want the 16" m1 pro max, but with 2TB instead of the standard 1TB. Unfortunately that one tweak takes the shipping time to December at the moment.

Does anyone have any input on how long it takes for Best Buy to get new models usually?
Or what configs the Apple store would normally stock on launch day?

I would imagine that this is a built-to-order SKU with the 2tb that most apple stores simply won't keep in stock. I could be wrong, but I wouldn't expect to get it any sooner from any other outlet.

1TB was well into December for me,. East Coast USA. That was like 10min after the event finished.

Apple store will typically have one top end model they carry in stock, don't know if that will be 2TB or more, it was 2TB for the 2019 model. I added 2TB as well, so straight to December also.

The stores will at times get a somewhat maxed option in stock as well that is normally build to order. It won't be on display and there will be no reference on the tables at all to another option. You just have to ask the sales associate. However since there are so many configs available I'm not sure which version they will have and its luck of the draw as to if / when they have it.

Lenovo is telling people 4+ months for many configurations.

Apple delaying until December isn't that bad.

Took a few mins before the apple business store would load, but was in first 10 mins.

Parts for everything are hard to get and delay times are long. Ordered a car in May estimated delivery date was Nov. 2021. Now stretched to April/May 2022.

I bet these will be top dollar to get one first. Kinda like video cards
