I have an iPhone 15 and use it outdoors and while it could be brighter at 2000 nits I can see things clearly. The problem is though as it heats up the screen dims for a while before the phone gets too hot and shuts off until it can cool down.

Will the iPhone 17 with 3000 nits brightness be much better or basically the same experience? I got the iPhone 15 base model bc they took a lot of the specs from the 14 Pro and put it into the 15 base model and it's been a great iPhone over the last couple years.

The eye senses brightness approximately logarithmically over a moderate range.

Here's a rough calculation:

3,000 / 2,000 = 1.5

√1.5 = 1.22

In terms of perception, 3,000 nits is roughly perceived as 1.22 times brighter than 2,000 nits.

I guess it will also dim when its hot. But how much and if the cooling is better tests will tell
