I take quite a few videos of my kids on their bikes and playing football etc. I'm wondering how useful action mode is or whether it's a bit of a gimmick? I'm particularly curious if it makes vides shot using the telephoto lens more stable because I have noticed on my brother's iPhone 13 that the video from the telephoto lens is quite poor.

It’s definitely a gimmick rather than something serious. Obviously, People uses action mode to take serious videos, but I would not put much expectation on their way of achieving it, be it cropping heavily or use telephoto lens, or both.

The button is a bit hard to be used by pressing down, should be one hit. The older mute button were much more usefull.

I don't use it due to the crop from 4K and I guess I'm not in the target demographic...
