How was preordering an iPhone 6 last year on ATT website?

Did you get your iPhone 6 on release day last year? Was the att website down? I am planning to get an iPhone 6S 64GB and was wondering if I could expect my iPhone 6s 64GB to arrive on launch day. The reason I'm doing it on ATT website because i want to get a new 2 year contract and keep the subsidized price.

It was the first site that was accessible to me at midnight -- the apple store website and app wouldn't load -- and I was able to order it easily. I did get a delayed delivery estimate at first (two weeks from launch), but the phone ended up arriving on launch day anyway.
