I'm talking with full settings(far render distance and fancy graphics)

Should I pay for the 2.4GHZ one or will this run fine?

Minecraft really isn't Crysis you know. If iPad can run it I'm pretty sure you will get more then enought fps with Macbook Pro.

If it's all about how well it's going to run a single game and you're going to plunk down better than a grand for a game that will be old hat 6 months from now I'd run it on a Windows machine.

Macs are hardly known for their gaming prowess.

Multicore Mac Pro should do it justice tho :)

I do more than just Minecraft. I need a OSX machine for work and I can't afford a Mac Pro.

Just patched and logged in, it seemed to be fine. I haven't played in months though.
