I'm planning to upgrade my iPhone 5 but seeing that a 5C is basically a colored 5, will the 5C help or hurt my ability to sell my iPhone 5 at a decent price. I think people will always pick metal over plastic if given the choice generally but I hope people won't look at at the 5 as too dull now.

a lot of people will pick metal over plastic, but nearly everyone will pick new over second hand.

people forget that MOST people are not eligible for an upgrade. So selling a 5 private is gonna be the same as selling the current phone when a new one drops every year.

5's will fetch anywhere from $300-$480 depending on condition, carrier and gb

Most people will not go for second hand products, especially in such a price range as the iPhone 5's.
