How would the new rMBP be released after WWDC?

So I've decided on waiting for the new rMBP. I'm not really sure how apple works with releasing products if they weren't released at WWDC. Are there other announced events or do they just randomly appear in the apple store?

Sorry for such a noob question. Just want to be ready when it releases.

I think if the update is to just throw in new components like the Haswell chips and PCIe SSD, then it will just be updated directly in the Apple store with maybe a weeks notice with leaks and such. If they do design updates at all then I would say a small special announcement a la iPhone and iPad launches in the past. Just my guess.
