HP 1006 Driver With Diagnostics

I picked up an HP 1006 printer and am using version 1.0.6 of the HP driver from their website running on Mac OS 10.5.6 but the printer won't return any diagnostic information like toner level.

Has anyone gotten their HP 1006 to show advanced information about the printer?
