Hey guys I just wanted to throw up this thread for anyone looking at getting any of the HP 2_11x monitors. They come in 23" 25" and 27", maybe 20" not sure. Anyway, I just ordered this one and if anyone else has, what are your thoughts on these?

Connections are HDMI and DVI both with HDCP, and then if need be, VGA. No speakers, but monitor speakers tend to be rough anyway. I actually admire the fact that HP didn't put speakers in to keep costs down. Many professionals in Final Cut and Logic recommend HP second to Apple, best if you don't want to throw down more than half of your computer for a display. I will post my review up on here via link, first the unboxing, but expect that later this week(friday night/saturday). The contrast ratios looked nice and the LED just sucked me in. It seems to be glossy, but not edge to edge glass of course. Anyway, if you are looking for a quality monitor, stay tuned for my thoughts on this one.

I must say that I`m now huge fan of HP LED monitors, don't know why really.. no special reason, but I also love the fact that they didn't put speakers inside monitor. I personally prefer separate speakers.

Currently, I`m using my Genius 7.1 home theater system on Audigy sound card and I must say that this is much better solution than built in speakers into monitor.

Do you guys have any issues with these monitors? I've been through 3 replacements. The monitor has trouble with my MacBook Air plugged in through HDMI (I also have a PC plugged in through DVI). When the Air goes to sleep it puts the monitor to sleep, but when the Air wakes up the monitor won't wake up. Whats worse, I can't use the PC either even though it's on, both say no signal.

If I pull the power plug to the HP 2511x and then plug it back in it works.

I have this exact same problem. I bought 6 of these monitors and they all exhibit similar behavior. I have tried 3 different brands of mini-display port adapters and also tried DVI / VGA and HDMI. All the monitors exhibit the same problem. Let me know if you ever found out a root cause.

Same issue for me as well. What's strange is if I manually put the macbook air to sleep using the apple menu selection it seems to wake up the monitor with no problems. If the computer goes to sleep due to inactivity - it can't seem to wake up the monitor.

Finally, one other item I've noticed is that pressing a key on my bluetooth apple keyboard does not always wake the computer up even though I have it set to do so in the system preferences.

Not sure what is going on here but I'm am not convinced it is a monitor problem. My macbook air seems to be a bit unpredictable with its sleep operation. I've opened a case with HP though just in case.

follow up

Just wanted to share that I've changed some of the monitor settings and seem to be getting predictable behavior when waking from sleep.

I've turned the auto-switch source to "off", the power saver "off", set the default source to DVI (which I'm using) and the source control to DVI.

Basically, turned off all of the "auto detect" types of features in the monitor so it is just set to take the input from the DVI source and display it.

HP told me that they don't formally support the Mac and so I figured I would disable all of the fancy features of the monitor that require handshaking to the computer and were probably designed/tested with windows.

I have not had any issues getting the macbook air screen to display on the HP since making these changes.

Not just happening on MAC

I was searching for this exact issue with my HP 2511x and this is not just happening to MACs. It is also happening on PCs also. I've tried HDMI and DVI and they both experience the same issue.
