I just installed an Airport Extreme router and I am trying to connect a few printers to the network.

I am having trouble installing my main printer, an HP 4000N Laserjet, on my Mac Mini. I have hard wire connected the printer to the router via an ethernet cable, but the printer does not show up in System Preferences and the Mini cannot locate it when I try to add a new printer to the list. The printer does show up and works properly via the wireless network with a Windows PC on the network.

I have successfully installed a wireless HP Officejet 6500 to the network and can see it and print to it from my Mac Mini.

Any suggestions how I can get the 4100 N to work with the Mini? Thanks.

This is off the top of my head, but I think you need to set, in the printer's settings, a static IP for the printer. On the Mac select IP printer, with the static IP address, when adding the printer via System Preferences.
