HP Laserjet 1020 over network, lost cause?

I have a HP Laserjet 1020 that is connected to my WinXP desktop machine (along with a hp Deskjet 970). I've tried everything I could think of but there doesn't seem to be any way to print from it over the network.

Is there anything I can do or do I need to boot into XP to be able to use the printer?

I'm using a Unibody MacBook Pro, Leopard (10.5.6).
