HP Printer on network always paused and "unable to connect"

Since I upgraded to Mavericks, I am unable to connect and print to my HP LaserJet 6MP connected to a PC running Windows XP. When I try to print from the mac (connected to the network via wifi) the printer always seems to stay in a state of being paused, even if I click the resume button. An error message will display saying "unable to connect to printer" even though I re-add the printer and it finds it just fine. Any thoughts?

I have the exact same issue, spent a lot of time with Apple Care, as of yet unable to resolve the issue. I did switch to a laptop running Windows 7 for sharing and was able to print without a problem. I was using an HP Laserjet 2015.
