HP printer working in Windows but not on Mac

I have a MBP running 10.6.7 with Parallels 6. When I open up XP using Parallels I can install the software and print from my HP Officejet 6210. With Windows open and try to print to the same printer it states that I am offline.

When I quit XP/Parallels all of a sudden I can then print using the same printer.

Is it possible that I can print using my 6210 from my Mac side with XP open? If so, how?

check your devices

If you have selected the printer and are running in the modality mode, you will need need to release the printer. I know I just did this. Not sure about the other modes.
