Does anyone have a good way to scan form a newer HP printer without using the awful HP bloatware? Image Capture unfortunately doesn't recognize these all-in-ones. I have photoshop (elements & cs4) if that would help.

Thanks

Not sure how HP does it, but my 8 year old Canon Scanner included a TWAIN driver to allow direct scanning in Photoshop. I think it would work the same way with Image Capture.

Does HP provide a TWAIN driver?

What model do you have?

I have recently discovered the ability to scan using Preview, or Image Capture. However, my mac didn't have an easy time discovering the all in one printer. I had to restart my mac twice and trash all the HP bloatware. Scanning now works great on my HP Photosmart C3100.

After downloading the latest print drivers from the apple website I am able to print and scan on my hp c4680 using snow leopard. To do so I just go to preferences, print/fax and then click the scan option and then say open scanner. The scanner scans and saves the image in the pictures folder. Hope that helps.
