macOS HTML form saved to XML - how?

I've got a rather basic HTML form with text entries, dropdown selections and button choices. I want to take the info filled into this form and save it to an XML form. How can I do this using applescript or some sort of GUI that basically holds the form as it is? This is not a web hosted form just something hacked together. Any suggestions are appreciated as I know a little about AppleScript but not how to get to where I want to go.
