i want to learn html, but hate to read. does anybody know a site with a good way to self teach yourself html. ive only found crappy sites, and nothing worth using.

I like W3Schools. Previously I've used them to quickly get a feel for CSS, SQL, various XML technologies (XForms, XSLT, etc.).

I haven't tried their HTML tutorial.
 
w3schools. Lynda is good but she often puts more emphasis on software usage vs good coding habits. She has some, one if I recall, good tutorial on html and css.
