maybe it's safari, maybe it's my campus network, maybe it's the sites i'm trying to access, i dunno maybe it's maybeline, but man, anything using https is either ridiculously slow or just not working. is anybody having like experiences? anyone know what the deal is?

There are some really badly designed HTTPS websites out there. Some have compatibility problems. Others are located on bad networks. Still others have both problems. Try your problem sites using various browsers, including IE. If the site doesn't work with IE, it is probably a network problem. If it works with IE, but not other browsers, then your problem sites have compatibility problems.

If you're using https over an http proxy, it will not work. This has been a bug in safari since the beginning; firefox works just fine. I had that problem when I was on my Uni network last year...
