Huawei makes Samsung foldables look completely obsolete. Each panel is only 3.6mm thin, which is about half the thickness of iPhone 6 Plus. An iPhone 16 Pro Max is 8.25mm thick. At this rate of advancement, foldables will soon replace phablets.

I'd be surprised if iPhone 17 Slim is under 4mm thick.

Yea, that's amazing. Too bad it's almost the price of a Vision Pro. If it was $1500 or less, I would find a way to have this shipped to me. I wouldn't even care about Google or Carrier compatibility.

Huawei really missed an opportunity here. Other companies will make their own versions with Google apps at affordable prices while the mate XT remains super expensive.

Even without Google so many would have bought the XT if it was a reasonable price and released internationally. Sigh. I was very excited, and I haven't been excited about a device in years like this at all. Was excited till I saw the price and the P taking reseller Mark ups!

2.5k and I might. That's a big might! I'm seeing it for up to 6.7k on my usual sites I use to import 😂 I hate humans sometimes. 6 month waiting list maybe. Sigh

But others will make it. They can't be bringing out a standard foldable like they've been doing after this XT release... Except Samsung of course, they'll bring out the same old fold for another 3 years

Quite a remarkable bit of technology but I can't see it aging well. One third of the display and one of the hinges is always going to be exposed and can't be put in a case. How is that soft, flexible display going to look with excess wear on on only one portion of the display? And reports show it costing approximately $1400 to repair that display. At least the bi-fold devices have gorilla glass on the cover display.

Anyone that spends that type of money on this, will most likely not keep it no longer than 2 years before upgrading. And I think the build quality will last during that time.

I will wait and see how the battery endurance is with 3 panels this thin leaving space for just a 5600 mah battery, else you may need a 10mm thick spare battery pack to get you through the day LOL

I doubt it. I wouldn't expect the inner display of my Pixel 9 Pro Fold to last very long if it was on the outside of my phone, always exposed.

That's something I didn't realize. I got used to the main display being a normal screen, but now the main display is a part of the folding display. I guess we have to wait for proper reviews on this to see how durable the main display is. Great point though. 👍

I expect it's the folded exposed hinge/screen that's the most vulnerable to impact damage etc imo
