Hi folks, coming from a 2013 MBP with lots of ports, I was about to buy a hub for my M1 MBpro, which arrives Dec. 17.

Then I remembered that I have ports on my old laptop stand, (image below with specs) I use this stand in my office all the time. I wonder if anyone can tell me if this can work. I'd rather not buy more electronic clutter- if this can work, great, if this needs too many adaptors, then no, I'll get a hub.

1. I don't have the power supply anymore, should I just try without and see? The specs don't specify what type of output is required in a power supply.
2.The square centre HOST port- I've a cable like that, but it's USB at the other end- would a USB/USB C adaptor work to plug into the new M1 MB pro?
3. The main periferals I have are an external keyboard, printer, and an audio interface/mic combo. Will these work plugged in here?
4. Finally, I have an old external monitor I'd like to keep using as a second screen. It has an old VGA connector, I plug it into my old MBpro with a VGA/HDMI adaptor. Is there an adaptor that can make this work? VGA to USB? HDMI to USB? Or- VGA to USBC, and just use one of the ports on my computer directly?

Thanks for any help,
Moosebear

If you don't want dongles hanging off the MBP, look for upcoming docking hubs that will be designed soon.

I'm sure some company or kickstarter business will develop one....

For my 16" MBP, I use a DGRule dock for my desktop dual displays and love it:
