Universal Hue Shortcut Failing: "The action 'Activate a Scene' could not run because the 'Hue' app quit unexpectedly."

I have a shortcut (made in the Shortcuts app) that turns a bunch of Hue lights in all rooms of my home, using a specific scene. Starting a couple of days ago, the shortcut now fails and reports the error message:

The action "Activate a Scene" could not run because the "Hue" app quit unexpectedly.

I have tried restarting my phone, and I have deleted the original shortcut and recreated it from scratch. It still fails. Is anyone else seeing this? Does anyone have any ideas for what else to try? (Deleting the Hue app from my phone is NOT an option.)

Unfortunately, the only thing that solved this problem was to delete the Hue app and then reinstall it -- this then required reconnecting the app to my Hue Sync boxes (which is why I did not want to have to delete the app).
