Hello,
I have a strange problem with my mid 2012 rMBP running macOS Sierra.
When I do something intensive in Firefox like watching a 1080p video on YouTube or the like, my iMessages app and a process called 'VTDecoderXPCService' use huge amounts of CPU power, causing the fans to go full speed.
Sometimes I have not even been using the iMessages app that day but when I kill it, VTDecoderXPCService goes away too and the Mac goes back to normal.
So Firefox does seem to be the cause but not the issue itself because its CPU load is usually normal and it will behave as expected after killing iMessages and with it VTDecoderXPCService in the activity monitor.
I have no idea how Firefox could have an effect on iMessages but the correleation is pretty clear.
Hope someone has an idea.
Thanks in advance!
