Huge mismatch between free space on ipod and itunes

Hello,

In iTunes, after syncing my ipod touch 6th gen, it shows that I still have 6.5 GB of free space. On the ipod itself though, it reports that I only have 450MB of free space.

Why is iTunes so wrong?
