Huge regain of diskspace. Data loss?

So, yesterday I had an application start to leak memory. My diskspace got down to about 600MB before I got a low disk warning and I closed all of my Apps .... The swap file for the system cleared, and I got back to about 12GB free. I then downloaded and installed Mavericks ... and now I have 35GB free.

I'm worried about data loss. I have backups, but if I don't notice missing files it's possible they could timeout from said backups.

Is there any way to be sure? — Also, Mavericks seems to move the iTunes "PlayCache" from ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.iTunes/PlayCache ... anyone know where to?
