I am not sure about the issue sorry bout that, but in profiler i know my iBook shows as a powerbook also, the model says iBook though. Just as my mini shows as a PowerMac.

Have you tried booting from the install disc again, or just reinstalling 10.3?

Ed

I believe there are some problems installing tiger on certain powerbooks/ibooks a solution is to install onto it from another computer using that book as a firewire disk mode. I believe, who knows.

Duff-Man says....what kind of install were you trying to do - a simple upgrade or a "archive and install" clean one? If you were just upgrading, try booting from your install disk again and trying an "archive and install" and see if that gets you over the hump.....oh yeah!

When i reboot i get the message..disc in or not

do i need a keystroke to boot to the cd? if i dont than its not going to work

I hate to ask this, but this is a retail copy of Tiger, right? The reason I ask is because late betas had compatibility issues with certain iBook G4s, IIRC, but you should definitely be able to install Tiger onto any iBook G4 without any tricks from the retail DVD.

also he can repair his hard drive using fsck in single user mode. This would be accomplished by holding down command s while starting the computer. At the command prompt, enter /sbin/fsck -fy
keep running it until it says its ok
then type reboot

My teacher, we received 18 brand new G5's, I was so exstatic, he tried to install Tiger from one of the G5 disc's and it wouldn't let him. It has specialized code to only install on certain processors. All in all, his came the next day.
