So it seems lately i've been having some problems with m early 2008 MBP.
the fans are spinning (according to iStat) at 2001 RPMs, but when you listen, there's the humming noise from the fan, or hard drive. it is like someone flicking the finger on a piece of paper, but very softly..the fans have also been spinning pretty high just using iChat, and it's sitting on a desk.
should i be worried about the noise? or what is it would be the better question..

Does it sound like something might be stuck in the fan, or is it more an electrical sound? If you're really worried buy a can of compressed air and blow it into the vents, should clear dust and anything else that might be in there.

it sounds electrical, the more i listen the more it sounds like a buzzing noise..

FYI, I had a similar issue. Mine sounded kind of like there was a ball bearing in the fan or something. Took it into a Mac store and they agreed it was not normal. They had two new fans shipped in and had my laptop fixed in about a week.
