Hi

I have just got my new HV30 and slowly getting used to using Tapes, I also have recently got Premiere Pro CS4, and I think I have got a basic grip of editing with it but I am new to film and have looked for help but I am getting very lost and hoped I could find some help here.

As a Uk resident I have the PAL version of the HV30.

Ive seen that NSTC owners have to go through a "pull down" process which PAL users don't need to do. Why is this?

But the most important question is what format should I capture with?

HDV 1080i25 (50i)
or
HDV 1080p 25

HDV 1080i25 (50i)
or
HDV 1080p 25

It really depends on your camera and what it records in. Your HV30 records in 1080/60i, 1080/24p, 1080/30F, 1080/24F, 1080/30p. If you record in progressive scan, the p after 1080, then you should use HDV 1060p25. If you record in interlaced scan, the i after 1080 then you should choose HDV 1080i50. I suggest you record in progressive scan (1080p25) it gives a better HD, compare here. Sorry I don't have an answer on your other question though. You can look here and you might find something.

Regards,
David
