When hyperthreading is activated on a dual-core CPU (making 4 virtual cores), is it equivalent to a quad core without hyperthreading, or is one faster than the other? Just a random fact I kind of want to know.

While hyperthreading is useful for boosting performance, physical cores are almost always faster and more efficient than virtual.

a good estimate is that a hyper-threading core is 60-75% as good as a real 2nd core. This was form the older Intel's though. I don't know if the Core i's are more efficient.
