I always wondered what causes this?

Now I know this is a very strange question, but I always wondered what causes this as you see a couple of guys like this. What I am talking about is the weird space in the white box.

That could be the case for some, but I have also noticed it — and the bald line is far too neat to be caused by rubbing.

The ones I have seen look like they were definitely shaved in.

I would suspect it is just guys trying to look "hard" and faking a boxing scar on the brow…
