Why in the world APPLE doesn't allow people to buy at no commitment price?

It has been published everywhere that it will cost $599/699 and no contract would be required???

I have reservation at Apple store and I really don't want to sign another 2-year contract with them.

Thank you for that, in fact I knew that.

I am just shocked people's experiences posted on the forum, some just declined, some ordered at full priced but apple renewed their contract etc.

Like a joke!

Problem Solved!

I got 4 at full price, no questions asked, no ATT account confirmation, no email reservation proof, no nada...

If you're an existing AT&T customer, why not go the upgrade route and get the phone for $199 with 2 year contract? You have to be an AT&T subscriber anyways to use it so I can't figure out why anyone would be willing to pay $300-400 extra dollars for a phone just to avoid signing the 2 year contract.
