I called Wal-Mart this afternoon to check on my employment application process. To see how it was going. I hadn't heard anything since Monday.

I got hired! Yay? Oh well. It's just a job I guess. The Wal-Mart in our area, from what I've seen, seems to be a very team-oriented place. That'll be a nice change from what my old job was...

Just letting everybody know. :p

My old job was in Kansas.... at a grocery store.

BTW the position is cashier! And I'm a MALE!

good job!!!

And working in a grocery store is okay, when im 15, i want to probably work at A grocery store in my area.

My mother applied for a job at Goodwill for a cashier, and the guy called and said that the job was only for men, my mom is 56 and should not be treated like that, she is still looking for a part time job so she can get paid more than what she gets paid at her full-time job, shes a secretary, and she even does one of her co-workers work for him because hes too lazy to get off his ass and do anything, my mom works for an industrial company, and she says that the guys in the shop and the office get paid more than her.

A job is a job, and some people would rather work at Wal-Mart than be looking perpetually for something "better" and more befitting of their image.

So congrats on the job ... I don't find anything wrong with people working at Wal-Mart.

Of course they got slammed big time here in Az, for not taking the time to make sure the store shelves have correct prices.

Congratulations on the new job!

I'm with you 007, arent they under scrutiny for milking public health centres?

Congrats, everyone must start somewhere. Plus I hear you get good discounts when working there. I would work there part time to get the discount. Hopefully you'll be a manager in no time :D

I guess I've never really thought about it but I never had a job in retail. I'm glad to, hope you don't get frustrated with the customers. Must be nice to have a job that has AC. I never worked anywhere until I got out of college that had AC.

Best of luck,

Nuc

I worked there for 3 years as a high school job.

The best part about the job was the profit sharing checks every year.

But being a cashier sucks..

I was only a cashier for a year

worked in the cash office for the last 2 years..what a fuggin relief!

I feel sorry for you during the holiday season..

have fun selling sweatshop clothes to fattys in SUVS.

Heh. Truth.

5 minutes in a Walmart confirms pretty much any stereotype that people hold against americans. :p

Are you gay?

Nobody ever puts males on cash register.
It's always lift boxes and pull weeds.

No. I'm not gay...

And there's a couple of other male cashiers my manager told me. If that's true or not, I guess I'll find out.
