The fanboy term is often used with a negative connotation here when someone is unable to find a valid point against someones approval of any Apple product. It's so easy to just say oh well your a fanboy so you like anything Apple does. A statement like this attempts to take any credibility away from someone who may have very legitimate reasons for liking the product or company. The mental image that comes to mind when this term is tossed around is someone who is very off balance and who's opinions are so skewed that they become meaningless. While there are probably people that fit into this category there are a very large majority who just happen to like good quality products and Apple seems to be the one making them more often than not.
I have used Apple products for a long time, since well before they were as mainstream as today. I have almost always been very satisfied. I have occasionally bought or used competing products and most of the time ended up regretting it. For this reason I have admittedly developed a loyalty to the brand. I know of no other company that has so consistently innovated and delivered a steady stream of great product. I have also been a fan of the way Steve Jobs handles his business and the recent press conference for me reaffirms this. So many CEO's sound more like politicians today than real people. Whether you like it or not you know with Jobs he's going to say how he really feels about something, he's not going to hide behind some corporate PR talk.
It seems there is no short supply of people who just can't stand the success of Apple and want to tear down anyone who appreciates their products or company. This really isn't a new thing, not so long ago the debate of Mac vs. PC went on and on and still does a little. It seems many of these people just didn't have anything they could find to hook onto anymore, the MacPC debate was old and all of Apple's recent product have been nearly flawless. So then comes along the iPhone 4 and the reception thing comes to light. Finally these people have found something to grab onto and hold up as proof that Apple indeed isn't as great as everyone though it was.
Now these people start posting video "Deathgripping" a phone and everyone is scared thinking they will buy the phone and it won't work. Then as more and more people actually start to use the thing they realize it was no big deal, not a real issue at all. So now the very slim yet very vocal minority of deathgrippers don't give up. You say you like your phone well that's not good enough they want to convince you your phone is flawed. You say I don't see the problem they say well it's there your just not seeing it. These sad pathetic people spend countless hours grasping their phone with their sweaty palms trying to prove the phone doesn't work to people who are perfectly happy with how it works. So then you get fed up with this nonsense and say look if you hate it so much just take it back. Then they go further and claim that Apple should have to fix it they shouldn't have to take it back and so on and so on. The truth of the matter is once they take the phone back they won't be able to run around and show everyone their neat little deathgrip trick.
So now as it turns out the Apple fanboys really aren't the ones so off balance but it's these deathgrippers. These wackos just won't give up and are going to be with us for a long time now. The difference is I don't have anything to prove, I am happy with what Apple puts out and really that's all that matters. So for all the deathgrippers out there go ahead I don't care squeeze your phone till you crack the glass, post all the YouTube videos you want, and call me a fanboy, I don't care because I'd rather be a fanboy than a deathgripper, and I would rather enjoy my product than try to prove something with it one way or another.
