Hello, I am having trouble finding information about how to animate a photo. I would like to make a picture of a cat look/sound like they are talking to you. I would rather not use Google, and would like to keep it free. Thank you for any help with this, its appreciated. Mini M1,16GB. Tahoe 26.2.

If you don't want to use Google there are other search engines that might give you an answer, or at least somewhere to start looking. I would assume that this is exactly the sort of thing "AI" is used for, but I don't use those kinds of services myself.

You can try free software like Audacity for recording and editing the voice, and iMovie for creating simple animations with the photo. Watch helpful tutorial videos available on YouTube. Also, you can explore free AI tools that animate photos.

As some responses didn’t seem to understand the request, here it is again:
I would like to make a picture of a cat look/sound like they are talking to you.

As this is a thread in the macOS apps category, has anyone found an actual macOS app that can animate a photo on device? Not online services, like Monica, EaseMate, Nana Banana and others.

your point?
The task is “make a picture of a cat look/sound like they are talking to you”.

HitPaw only provides that bad animation.

The basic version on EaseMate & Monica are bad and without sound.

The only option with audio, from what I can tell, is paid and uses Google’s Veo 3 generative video model.

Ok, thanks for the reply. That's why I mentioned the OP to check it out. I'm in no position to judge whether it fits the needs of the OP or not.

Surely you could use one without sound and then use another app to add it in? Also I've no idea what you mean with your reply to my prior post?!

In guest mode, that's the message for generative AI and nothing can be generated. Can you please explain how to use that page to generate a talking cat from a photo?

I've no idea I don't use it. The OP asked how to animate a photo for free. Adobe says "Create Animated Images for Free". Am I supposed to do it for him/her?!

If you want to help someone, you share something that you know it works, not the first results of an Internet search.

There are dozens of apps in the App Store if you search for “AI video generator”. Most have no ratings and charge ridiculous prices to even try to generate something.

It would be nice to know if someone successfully achieved a task like “make a picture of a cat look/sound like they are talking to you” and with what app/service.

It's my choice to help as much or as little as I choose! Why are you not having a go at all the people that haven't bothered to post anything? I chose to help by offering a possible solution. You are not helping the OP in any way at all by getting in the way of and taking over this thread trying to bully people to do things the way you want.

If you're so bothered about helping this person then go do all the research, download all the apps figure out which one will work and present your evidence in this thread.

I'll wait here...

Thank you all for your help, I tried the Monica,Adpobe and Hitpaw. I am able to make the cat move but not appear to talk with them. I did find PetStar which is an iPhone app ( does work on the Mini ) but it is very rough, I was hoping to find something a little smoother with the movement. Again THANK YOU all for your time and suggestions 🙂

Adobe Express can and should add an audio track to any video or animation—I know that for sure. I also suspect you're missing something with most of the others if you're not getting the audio to come through on the videos.
