:confused:I have a iPad 2 3G with a broken glass and LCD screen. I am unable to slide the power off slider in order to power the thing off. What are the dangers of trying this repair if I can not turn it off? Is there a way to do a hard shut down (not reset)? any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

You can repair the iPad until the battery run out.

The power button may be broken if you can't turn off the device, have you ever checked if your iPad's power button is ok? If not, you need to replace a new one.

I think holding down the power and home buttons together for about 10 seconds shuts down the iPad.

The risk is about the data. If its backed up, go ahead. If not and it would suck to loose it, take the extraordinary measure of forcing a shutdown by using the battery reserve.
