I backed it up and now my apple logo is back NEED to restore

I posted yesterday about being stuck on the apple logo. It somehow worked itself out and I was able to back everything up. Today I noticed that the WI-FI was greyed out and when I went to reset it, it went back to the apple logo and is again locked there.

So I need to restore. I have the 3GS and when I go to restore it is says it will update to 3.1.3. Can someone walk me through how to restore so that it is still possible to unlock/JB?

I was looking to see if you were on..lol.

I have no idea and since I can't access it I am not sure how else to find out.


ETA: The 3GS is my husbands phone. I have a 3G and I am looking at cydia and I don't see anything on the top of cydia. How would you get your SHSH's saved in the first place. And what is SHSH anyway?

The Shsh's are only for 3GS models.
They allow you to downgrade to previous firmware so you can JB your 3GS.

The version on the phone was already 3.1.2 do I still need to downgrade anyway?

Its not techinically downgrading but restoring to 3.1.2
But since Apple will not let any 3GS model restore to anything but the latest 3.1.3 version you need to follow those steps to see if your device did have its files saved thru cydia.
If not you have no option but to restore to 3.1.3 and losing your JB and unlock for the time.

Ok I followed everything you posted and I get an error -
"Iphone cannot be restored this device in not eligible for the requested build"

I am SOL now huh?

ETA: While I was typing he tried it again got another error : (3004), He closed it and did it once more it says restoring so we shall see how bad he messed it up.

ETA Again :) So I guess it restored and now is on the emergency only screen
 
All good now....so far anyway :)

Just have to unlock and JB again then apply the backup.
