The volume on songs is nearly 25% louder, if not more, using YouTube Music than it is with Apple Music. Makes no sense! I began to think they were defective until I played same music in YM.

It's louder going through Firefox to macOS 15.7.2 on my M1 Max Studio and then via my Audient iD4 to my Kali LP-6 monitors, also. I don't think it has anything to do with AirPods.

It's easy to crank the output at the source, which I suppose YouTube has done.

Sure! My frustration is with Apple. Why is the output of their music so low. I also know low is relative, but it’s a difference of 100% up on AM and wanting more to 90ish% on YM and can’t take anymore.
