Hey, you may remember me from such posts as “I love the iPhone SE” and “who’s getting an iPhone SE2!?”.

Last night I decided after weeks and weeks of thinking about the iPhone 11 I should just upgrade.

I was slowly getting annoyed about the small screen and news of an iPhone 8 sized ‘SE’ seems pointless when I thought hard about it.

So I took advantage of the ease of the Apple Store app and ordered my 64GB black iPhone 11.

First impressions is that it’s much bigger than I thought. I knew it was about 6” but huh... it’s big! Also much heavier than the tiny SE but I love it! FaceID is great and the camera is stunning. Really pleased with it.

Bye 4” phones, you’ll be missed. 👋

I just upgraded to an iPhone 11 Product Red from a XS Max Gold. I really don't even notice the difference from the OLED to LCD screen. I am enjoying the much lower price too. The 11 is $500 less than the XS Max I had. The iPhone 11 is indeed a great iPhone for the price, especially with the new cameras, wide angle, and night mode.

Yea a coworker just got an 11 and with a minimal case it’s too big for me compared to my iPhone 8 in a Magpul Bump case.

I’m going to wait to see if the SE2 is going to be a spec’ed out phone.

My college aged son was a true believer in the SE, but his was dying a slow death. He liked the SE size, but also the SE price. Two weeks ago, I was visiting him on campus, and said let's go buy you a new iPhone 8. Knowing it was the the least expensive and smallest option. Off to the Apple store we went, and after looking at it, the Xr and the 11 (11 pro was just to pricey), he's said "is it ok if I get an 11?" He utterly loves it. He loves the battery life, the FaceID, and the camera quality, not to mention wireless charging. I still think it's a little big, but I'll probably replace my old iPhone 7 in the next month or so. :)

For me it has been great. Not as tall as my S10+ but bit heavier. Really comfortable.
The “slim” case I tried was a turn off. Makes it too big, ugly. The Phone really feels sturdy as is.

I prefer lcd over OLED.

You're both lucky. In college my Dad loved it when I... got an iPhone with my own money.

Thanks all.

I very briefly toyed with the idea of a Pro but it was mainly the price tag that put me off. For the couple of camera benefits I wasn’t too bothered.

The midnight green looked very nice but decided to upgrade ‘cheaply’ and go classic with just a black 11.

Also as my first experience with the notch, I actually really like it. It’s fun how photos appear around it and still can’t get over FaceID, great stuff.

I also moved from an SE (which I still love and am keeping for travel/backup) to an iPhone 11, purely for price reasons. Ended up paying $120 out of pocket after trading in a iPhone 6s I had lying around. This 11 is definitely not a 1-handed use phone so I’ve transitioned over to 2 handed use. Once you go 2-handed it doesn’t matter how big the phone is, I could easily see myself using a 6.5” or even 7+” device. My usage is different, I am much more deliberate, I no longer whip it out while walking between meetings, standing in line or dashing between gates at the airport. I sit down, set down anything else I’m holding, take it out a little more carefully and then use it before putting it away. And since I’m not trying to be compact or pocketable anymore I wrap it in a armor case and slap on a thick tempered glass protector.

I also just got an iPhone 11 (128GB in green). I wasn’t planning on upgrading but my trusty iPhone 7 met a violent death the other week after I fell down while running. I happened to be holding my phone because I forgot my pack. I had a pretty hard fall and my 7 was destroyed even though it had a decent case on it and a glass screen protector. The glass shattered and the frame got bent (I also messed up my knee pretty bad).

I thought about fixing the glass but with the other damage it just wasn’t worth the repair. So I thought maybe now is the time to upgrade. I tried out the 11 and 11 Pro and while I like the smaller size of the Pro and extra camera, it just wasn’t enough of a difference to feel justified in spending the extra money.

I’ve only had my 11 for two days and I love everything about it except it is a big phone. I never imagined myself using a phone this big. I’m still getting used to the size but I think it will grow on me. The screen size is nice for doing just about anything, as it makes it nicer to type, read, watch videos, or play games. The iPhone is the computing device I use more than any other and it’s nice to have a bigger screen. I’ll get used to the size and weight, but I do miss the size of the iPhone 7.

My wife on the other hand seems to never want to give up her SE. When Apple sold the last remaining new unlocked stock earlier this year I picked up an unlocked 128GB SE for her to have as a backup in case her current SE bites the dust. She doesn’t even like the iPhone 6/7 size. She loves iOS though so unless Apple releases a new 4 inch iPhone she’ll have to get a larger iPhone eventually.
