Ok so I did it. I threw in with the air. I've been a big MacBook pro and iMac user from way back, but a few days ago I finally did what I've always wanted to do, I bought an Air! The things holding me back were price and the lack of updates from Apple. But you know what? After using this machine for three days I can honestly say it is the best laptop I have ever used. I don't even know why I ever used a pro. I got the high end 2.13GHz machine with the solid state HD. So quiet (silent). So light. Amazing machine and I can never go back to using a pro. Can't wait to see what Apple have in line for the Air in the future too! The coolest thing though is that its not quite mainstream. Not like the Pro anyway. I get looks! Oh yeah, us Air users are legit.

I <3 my MacBook Air!

My girlfriend bought the same one today. Her first Mac. I have a MBP, but she needed something lighter. We're loving it so far. But I miss the glass trackpad.

Yeah, I agree with you on that one. I hope the next MacBook Air has the glass trackpad. It's quite nice. Apart from that, I think it's perfect. The Air was just so far ahead of its time, I guess the current high price and the choice to take out the CD drive way back in 2008 was why it's now considered a niche product. Sad really. It's definitely the best looking Mac they've released. With a bit of future hardware reworking, a price drop and a relaunch I can't see why it wouldn't actually take the place of the standard MacBooks and 13" MacBook Pro's in the future.

This why I feel apple haven't updated the Air because you can sit on macrumors and obsess over specs all day but even the current air in its staleness is still a pretty good performing computer, especially for 95% of peoples use.
