This year i was convinced that the XS MAX was too big for me and i’d downgrade to the smaller 11 Pro...

But now i miss it.

Ive also been a gold iPhone owner ever since gold became an option and now i miss that too. Midnight green just feels like space grey to me.

Anyway... im aware of how first-world-problemy I sound rn but do i have options? I’m on the apple upgrade program and got my phone on launch day. Is it possible to return this phone and get a Gold 11 Pro Max and still be eligible for an upgrade next year at the regularly scheduled time?

Obviously I’m also fine with just living out the year with this 11 Pro. But if the option to swap out phones isnt a hassle, I’m def gonna look into it. :)

If you’re on the IUP I think they just close the loan and you could sign up again with a 11 Pro Max. You’re in the return window so it shouldn’t be an issue.

Following. In the same spot.

Exactly this. I did it last year. They close the existing loan when you return the phone, and start a new loan. Since it's within a few days, I can't imagine it would impact your ability to upgrade at launch next year. At worst, you might need to make one extra payment but I think that's even very slim.

Yup I’m at the store now, I have to get in line with the rest of the non-preorder people but it sounds like the swap will be painless. Thanks y’all!

Awesome, glad it worked out for you. Gonna give it another few days before I go ahead with the swap, but glad to know it’s possible.

Best bet is to go to an apple store that has the inventory, or worst case, just return this one and wait for the gold max to ship. I’ve done it before, hated the gold that year and swapped it for a grey, simply found an apple store that had the phone I wanted and was out in 15 minutes.

All done! Midnight Green 11 Pro to a Gold 11 Pro Max! They paid off my old loan and just stared a new one. No new credit check required (apparently).

But WARNING I WAS RIGHT TO BE WORRIED. If you want a return and are on the apple upgrade program, you have 13 days from THE DAY YOU PREORDERED, NOT the day you picked up your phone/had it delivered. In my case I preordered on the 13th and I asked for a replacement on the 23rd. If I’d waited until the weekend I would have been outside the return window.

If you preordered on 13/14/15th and you’re on upgrade program andyou want to swap out your phone for a different one, go to a store and DO IT NOW!

Post #12 is correct, Apple unlike almost everyone else, considers day 1 of the 14 day period to be the purchase date, so day 14 is 2 weeks from the day before your purchase.
